Title: Falling of Free Will
Fandom: Original, fantasy
Notes: Wrote this for my fiction workshop senior year at Bryant. I was the only person in the class to write a fantasy piece... go figure. Every class we rotating reading our stuff, and every class someone read the same story about some emo kid or like someone dying or being kidnapped. I got bored with it. And not to sound egotistical, because I'm so totally not, but some of those stories and the writing styles etc, made me look like a professional million dollar making writer. And that was really frightening. My favorite of the worsts was the girl with the story that caused me to start counting semi-colons. Three page story, double spaced, sixteen semi-colons and like most of them were used instead of commas. *headdesk*
Also, this is like the 3rd draft since I edited it upon some suggestions I received from the class. One of them was changing names so they didn't all end in -el... no one got that they're all angels and angel names all end in -el as like a legit thing. I could only bear to change one name since they all hold meaning... whatever. I love this story, but at the same time despise bits of it. The one thing I refused to change despite every suggestion was the term "The Authority" to "God." Just couldn't do it. "The Authority" sounds scarier and I thank Philip Pullman
for bringing it to my attention.( Millions of spiritual creatures walk the earth...Collapse )
My prof thought this was meant to be something bigger, but I'm not sure. Turned out way different than it started though.
